Maryland, the state with both Washington DC and Baltimore within its boundaries, was originally known as the ‘breadbasket of the American Revolution’ for its grain production. These days its agriculture is much more diversified and includes livestock, honey, horticulture and nurseries, poultry, and wineries and vineyards.
