(Toddy Pond Farm)
Maine is at the tippy top of the New England states, bordering Canada to the north and with a huge coastline on the Atlantic.
Best know for it Maine lobsters, the state was actually a center of agriculture for the Wabanaki nations, farming corn and other produce prior to colonization. Today it is the top producer of blueberries and has many vegetable and small diversified farms.
One interesting bit of trivia, the Katahdin sheep, a hair sheep favored for it fine flavor and nice disposition, was developed in the mid 20th century by a Maine breeder and named after Mt. Katahdin, the state’s highest peak.
