Overview
Bonne Terre — the good earth — is a 10 acre Organic Farm Stay with 2 separate residences: Bonne Terre Cottage and Bonne Terre Studio. Our lovely hand built Cottage and Studio are Artists’ Retreats/Farm Stays for anyone looking for a place to breathe; to slow down; to connect with nature.
What can guests expect at our Farm Stay? Guests will experience a pleasant, leisurely stay with no farm responsibilities, unless they elect to have some. Scheduled Farm tours are offered, and weather /or time permitting, guests may help with basic farm chores, such as gathering eggs from our four different flocks of chickens, feeding critters and, when in season, harvesting fruits and vegetables.
While staying at Bonne Terre, guests are required to stay in their designated areas, but both Cottage and Studio are located near gardens and pasture with our animals, and have great views of the farm with several seating areas where guests may sit quietly and enjoy nature. Did we tell you we provide our guests with our own hand crafted Bonne Terre Blend soap and other artisan and locally made products?
Bonne Terre is a National Wildlife Federation certified wildlife habitat. Some of the wildlife that you might see while staying here are: Barred Owls, American Goldfinch, Red-winged Blackbirds, Northern Cardinals, Northern Mockingbirds, American Robins, Carolina Wrens, American Crows, Downy Woodpeckers, Blue-winged Teal, Canadian Geese and Copper’s Hawks, to name more than a few.
We are stewards of the land. Like the studio, the main house is comfortably settled in a rural Louisiana landscape to leave the lightest impact on the environment. We provide guests with recycling bins, kitchen compost pails for organic waste, natural soaps and sprays created by local artisans, Organic and Fair Trade Certified food products, cloth napkins and non-disposable dishes, access to books, music and DVDs by Louisiana artists, and to reduce the use of plastic, we provide our guests with filtered water at each of our rentals.
We welcome animal lovers, nature enthusiasts, and adventurous souls to come experience this tranquil space located in the center of South Louisiana’s vibrant cultures and breathtaking natural environment. Acadiana’s incredible cuisine, amazing local music and one-of-a-kind attractions make our home a very special corner of the universe.

Please note that our Farm Stay is for Adults Only. Sorry, No one Under the age of 24 and No pets are allowed at Bonne Terre. No one but guests listed on the contract are allowed at the farm or at either Cottage or Studio. No exceptions and strict policy. Thanks!

Studio
Special Instructions: Separate fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, stove, fridge, microwave, open living space area with sofa, chairs, table for two, full bed, Bathroom with shower, washer/dryer, walk in closet, front and side porch and plenty of outdoor seating. NO Events/Parties. NO visitors but guests on contract.
