Overview

Farm Stay USA | 4-Star AccreditationScurlock Farms in the Texas Hill Country is the perfect spot to unwind with an unprogrammed retreat from the urban concrete jungle. Come see what it is like to live on a farm, for a romantic get-away, for a family gathering, staycation, or a centrally located vacation spot. The beautiful San Gabriel River forms the north border of the farm with a little over 1 mile of river frontage. Fishing and tubing are great, and there are plenty of fossils to see in the wide white limestone banks.

We raise cattle, horses, goats and chickens and there is a 20 acre pecan orchard. Visit in November and pick up your own Choctaw pecans.

I love giving guests tours of the farm in a Polaris. Children enjoy cuddling  baby goats, feeding the horses apples, “driving” a tractor of their choice with Mr. Dan or Mr. David, gathering eggs, picking fresh produce from the garden for their dinner, searching for arrowheads, or skipping rocks in the river and finding fossils on the limestone river bank.

Fishing is great in the San Gabriel River that is on the farm. We have a fishing guide that will come to the farm to give lessons. He will provide all of the equipment and bait! Horseback riding is available on a farm nearby.

We have two beautifully furnished homes on the farm. My mom was landscape artist, C. P. Montague.  She was one of President Lyndon B. Johnson’s favorites and painted many paintings for the Johnson family.   Both homes have many representations of her work and many have said they are living museums.

Rocky Overlook was her dream home and it sleeps 6 with 2 full baths. The Palette Pad was her art studio and has a queen bed, bath with shower.

Both homes have luxury linens, fully equipped kitchens, fireplaces (firewood provided), TV, high-speed Internet, Wi Fi,  games, books, a/c and central heat, charcoal grills, great outdoor seating areas, and fire pits. All soaps and paper products are also provided. Coffee, a variety of hot teas and basic spices are in the kitchens.

I will bake a batch of from-scratch homemade muffins of your choice the evening of your arrival using real butter and eggs from my free-range chickens. They are great warmed for breakfast 12 – 15 seconds in the microwave. Fresh seasonal fruit bowl. Farm eggs are available for $3.00 dozen.

Guests enjoy our farm stand each Saturday 10 am – 2pm.  We have fresh produce from our gardens, a variety of home canned salsas, jellies and jams, homemade bread, and eggs from our free-range chickens.

Birding is great as the farm has very diverse topography – prairie on top, heavy woods on the bluff, river bottom, and the river itself. 2/3 of all birds found in Texas are seen in Williamson County.  The farm is only 10 minutes to Southwestern University and the beautiful Georgetown Square, named “The Most Beautiful Town Square in Texas”, 30 minutes to Austin and 75 minutes to Waco.  Check out our website for more info and photos.
