Willet Ponds Horse Farm

An Appalachian Farm Experience
Overview
Willet Ponds Farm offers more than a place to stay: an Appalachian farm experience. It’s all about the farm, and the peaceful, enriching experience your family will have in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina.
A week in the country is worth a month in town. You may simply choose to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery right from the porch. Or you are welcome to join us in the daily workings of the farm, taking care of the donkey, the pot-bellied pig, bunches of bunnies, a herd of horses, and a diverse flock of fowl (including peacocks!). Wake to the rooster’s crow and help gather eggs. Treat yourself to the simple joys of life and discover why we have an extremely high guest return rate.
Right on the property you can fish and swim in the ponds, hike trails, find enchantment in the Fairy Forest, groom and ride horses, bake in a masonry oven, renew in a wood-fired sauna, harvest apples and berries, cook over an open fire, play in creeks, and refresh the soul. Nearby you can tube, kayak, and fish on the New River, ski at area resorts, climb stunning mountains in nearby Grandfather Mountain State Park and Elk Knob State Park, take the kids to Tweetsie Amusement Park, see the historic outdoor drama Horn in the West, shop in Boone, West Jefferson, and Blowing Rock, picnic on the Blue Ridge Parkway, enjoy a plethora of scenic waterfalls, then wine down at area vineyards and cideries. The North Carolina High Country is a fantastic place to visit any season (and an even better place to live!!!).
Many guests ask if they can ride our horses.
While we are not a riding stable open to the public, we try to accommodate your interests and offer custom trail rides, arena lessons for beginners, and lead line rides for kids. Please let us know in advance if you want to book such horse activity and we’ll check our schedules.
We are thrilled to be able to share our dream farm with vacationers who would like to sample country life. While caring for horses, pasture, heirloom apple trees and berry bushes, we keep our focus on the farm’s most important crop: the next generation. Come join us!
