Auerfarm
Engage, Learn, Enjoy
Overview
About Auerfarm
Beatrice Fox Auerbach’s children generously donated the farm with an agreement to provide a community resource where children and families can learn about and enjoy the ambiance of the farm. The 120-acre property in Bloomfield, Connecticut, was deeded to the non-profit 4-H Education Center at Auerfarm Inc. in 1976. The organization was established as an IRS 501C3 in July of 1970.
The farm is committed to engaging diverse learners of all ages and abilities in learning about agriculture, science, and the environment. Programs make full use of Auerfarm’s resources – animals, pollinator gardens, trails, streams, and innovative classroom spaces – to provide hands-on learning experiences that we believe communicate knowledge more effectively than traditional instructional models. Auerfarm educators include certified teachers, curriculum specialists, and farmers with experience in social and emotional learning, agriscience, and nature.
Neighborhood Description
Auerfarm is a very private setting. Only five families live on the 120-acre farm. We are close to grocery stores, restaurants, museums, and recreation areas.
Come see our gardens and greenhouses, meet our animals, and learn some new skills!
Farm stay accommodations are offered in the Auerfarm Cottages (houses).
During your stay, you're welcome to walk along the farm roads, pick your own seasonal crops, birdwatch and observe the native wildlife, and say hello to our goats, sheep, chickens, cows, and many more animals. The annual Fall Festival draws many people from the community for activities like hay and pony rides, goat walks, lessons on making apple cider and ice cream from scratch, and exploring the farm. We invite you to participate in our educational experiences while you're here with us, including goat walks, forest bathing, farm-to-table meals, and vacation camps for children. There are also several nearby state parks and scenic areas for hiking and biking.
If you're interested in hosting a private gathering with us, please let us know. We host birthday parties, farm-to-table dinners, and more.
